Prof. Dvir Tal

Prof. Tal Dvir is a Professor at Tel Aviv University and the Director of the Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and Founding Director of the Sagol Center for Regenerative Biotechnology. He obtained his PhD from Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, with his doctoral research focusing on cardiac tissue engineering and regeneration. He conducted postdoctoral studies in Prof. Robert Langer’s laboratory in the Department of Chemical Engineering at MIT, focusing on advanced materials for tissue engineering.

Prof. Dvir’s laboratory designs and develops smart bio and nanomaterials and technologies for engineering complex tissues and organs, including the heart, brain, spinal cord, and other organs. His groundbreaking work includes the development of the world’s first 3D-printed heart with human tissue and vessels, and engineered human spinal cord tissues for treating paralysis. He has published extensively in prestigious journals and holds numerous patents. His recent achievements include receiving the Taobuk Da Vinci Award for 2023 for his contributions to regenerative medicine.
